Humana South Florida recently acknowledged their network of physicians during the inaugural Five Star Awards Ceremony held at the Don Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club in Miami Lakes. Twenty physicians who operate medical practices out of Humana’s Wholly Owned Affiliated Provider Centers were recognized for providing superior levels of patient care and levels of service during a three hour dinner and awards ceremony.

Sonia Michaels, M.D., Pricare of Broward Lauderhill, Michael Cavanaugh, M.D., Plaza Medical Centers South Miami, Olivia Graves, M.D., Plaza Medical Centers South Miami and Jose Stable, M.D., Primary Care Associates Jupiter were also honored for providing outstanding levels of patient care and overall member satisfaction.

“The Five Star annual awards represent Humana’s commitment to ongoing quality improvement in terms of the levels of care our members receive, and the surroundings in which they receive it,” said Michael A. Seltzer, CEO Humana Medicare and Medicaid products. “Our 5-star rating system incorporates surveys and audits to evaluate and compare the performance of all 51 Humana-owned provider centers, as well as to identify areas that need improvement.”

Coach Don Shula, the coach with the most wins in National Football League history, was in attendance to honor the award recipients. Governor Jeb Bush made a special appearance via taped broadcast where he acknowledged the Humana physicians who have made such a significant impact on enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery to south Florida’s Medicare beneficiaries.
